Greetings,
Who is ready to start our New Year! We have our first meeting of 2023 this Tuesday, January 10th. Mert and Joleen have volunteered to bring wine for us to enjoy, and Dawn is providing dinner, which begins at 6 pm. Jeanne Lawson will be treating us to a yummy dessert as well!

The theme for this meeting will be Happy New Year 🎊. Please wear something you would wear to a New Year’s party - dress slacks and blouse, glittery top or dress for the ladies, and men please wear a suit or slacks and tie! Let’s make it a celebration to kick off the New Year!

See you Tuesday.

As always, please let me know if you are not able to attend.

Happy New Year to all !!!!
It's time to get back into the swing of things after the holidays.  The monthly Scottish Rite dinners will resume beginning with the Installation of its officers on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 (flyer attached).  The time etc. is indicated.  The dinner is $35.00 and you need to make reservations in advance at:  psscottishrite.org/simple-e-schedule .  No, I do not know what is being served!
We need to make a great effort in supporting our Coachella Valley Masonic family this year.  The last couple of years have taken a toll on all of us and it would be wonderful if we could all come together as a 'family' and lend support where needed.  Our wonderful Chef Hector will be installed as Venerable Master of Palm Springs Scottish Rite.  This is the spot Jim Ridley had before his passing.  We all know Chef Hector for his fabulous cooking!  If the next question is, what should we wear, I would say 'dressy casual'.  Please read through the list of officers.  I'm sure you will recognize several.
As of now, Jayne Woods and I plan to attend.  We hope to see you there........
Any questions, send me an e-mail or my cell 760-668-6328 (txt).

bookmark_borderWarm Welcome from Worthy Matron Jane

Greetings to all –

I want to congratulate everyone on such a wonderful first meeting on December 13th. Those of you in new stations did a great job on your charges, kudos to your hard work.

For those of you who were unable to attend, we missed you and hope this email finds you well.

We were honored by a visit from Sister Sue White, who is Worthy Grand Marshall of the General Grand Chapter and Past Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of California,  and her husband Alan White, who is her escort as well as a Worthy Patron this year.

During our meeting, Brother Alan served as Installing Marshall, while Sister Sue was Installing Matron for our treasurer, brother Rodney Slagle, who had missed our official installation ceremony. It was truly a memorable experience and we were so grateful for their assistance.

As we celebrate the holidays with our friends and family, singing Christmas carols and holiday songs, I want to share with you something I came across the other day. It is about the meaning behind the song

“The Twelve Days of Christmas”.

It goes like this:

The Partridge in a Pear Tree represents Jesus Christ.

Two turtle doves stand for the Old and New Testaments.

Three French hens represent Faith, Hope, and Love.

The four calling birds are the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

The five golden rings represent the first five Old Testament books, also known as the Torah in the Jewish faith.

The six geese a-laying symbolize the six days of creation.

Seven swans a-swimming represent the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Eight maids a-milking are the eight Beatitudes.

Nine ladies dancing are the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit.

Ten Lords a leaping represents the Ten Commandments.

Eleven Pipers Piping stand for the eleven faithful disciples.

Twelve drummers drumming symbolize the twelve points of belief in the Apostles’ Creed.

Wishing you all peace and star love.

Jane Bradfield, Worthy Matron

bookmark_borderMembership Moment #1

Good morning,

Attached is 2023’s Membership Moment #1.

Friendship is a core value of Eastern Star. By developing friendships we anchor our members to our wonderful Order. Think about it … members can easily quit an organization but they find it extremely difficult to quit a good friendship.

This activity was designed to help you build lasting friendships with your members using fun times shared together. This “investment in fun” can revitalize your Chapter and transform your Star “members” into your Star “family”.

Thank you for your service and dedication,

The 2022-2023 Membership Committee
Grand Chapter of California, Order of the Eastern Star

PS We always appreciate feedback and input on Membership activities, so if you can find a few moments, please let us hear from you. Of note, on December 19 we will send out a Membership Moment from 2022 with another idea that you may find useful. Also, If you are receiving this email multiple times it is because you are listed as a member of the Chapter Membership Committee for multiple chapters.
